Wanda Morton Moore, 62, of Hodges, South Carolina entered into eternal rest on Sunday,  August 14, 2022 at the University of Augusta Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia.

Born March 20, 1960 in Greenwood County, South Carolina, she was the daughter of Thomas Morton and late Mildred Syrkett Callaham.

Wanda Moore, also known to most people as "Dr. Moore" was a graduate of Greenwood High School Class of 1978 and attended Piedmont Technical College. She was a dedicated worker for Park Seed for over 20 years.

She was a devoted member of Pine Grove African Methodist Episcopal Church in Callison, where she was a Trustee, President of the Pastoral Aid, Church School Teacher, Past President of the Women Missionary Society and Lay President for  the African Methodist Episcopal local churches in the Abbeville-Greenwood District.  She was the 1 ^st Vice Lay President of the Abbeville Greenwood District, and a member of the missionary locally and the district. She was a volunteer for the Enrichment Program at Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Cokesbury, South Carolina; Public Relations Director for the Lay Conference and the Abbeville-Greenwood District Activity Director. Also Sister Moore was the founder of the Phoenix Apartment Ministry and Assisted with the Phoenix Academy of Arts after school program.

Not only was Sister Moore a faithful servant of the church but she was also a pillar for the community. She was the Community Care Movement Director of Greenwood County Democratic party, she was a volunteer for so many other organizations and helped coordinate many events throughout the community. The Boys and Girls Club was her heart. Wanda never missed an event and never knew how to say no, it was always "I will try my best to do what I can do to be there" or "I will send some sweets". She never meets a stranger, to know Wanda you couldn't help but to love her. From her smile to even her talks she had with you. She was always doing what she could for others.

She is proceeded in death by one sister, Diane Syrkett Moore; one grandson, Brayden Amir Moore; a nephew, Kerry Rashawn Mosley; her mother-in-law, Ida Ruth Moore Brooks and a brother-in-law Larry Witt.

She was the loving and devoted wife of 44 years to Bruce L. Moore Sr. Together they had two wonderful children, one son, Bruce L. (Vanda) Moore Jr. and one daughter, April M. Moore both of Greenwood South Carolina.  A loving grandmother who was always there for her six grandchildren, Donivan (Nicole) Spearman, Darrius Spearman, Mi'Angel Clark, Jaesha Clark and two that were reared in the home, Bruce Moore III and Key'Asia Moore, four great grandchildren.  She also leaves to cherish  her most fond and wonderful memories are two sisters, Reverend Melody C. Morton of Greenwood South Carolina and  Sandy Henderson of Ducula Georgia;  two brothers, Tony F. Morton of Greenwood South Carolina, and Darren K. (Sirena) Morton of Greenville South Carolina; six brothers-in-law, Theodore (Mabel) Moore, Robert (Mag) Payne, James Payne, Jermaine Payne, Albert Payne, and Clarence (Ruby) Holmes; three sisters-in-law, Sandra (Calvin) Lewis, Kim (Dennis) Butler and Tammy Payne; five godchildren, Tammy Childs, Mary Ann Lockhart and Belinda (Tommy) Melson; a special goddaughter, Tamara Carroll,  a special godson, Ellis Belton along with a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, and nieces, other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Public Viewing will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 1-6 P.M. at Parks Funeral Home.

A Home going celebration for Mrs. Wanda Morton Moore will be held at noon on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church PLEAD Center in the Promised Land Community of Greenwood, South Carolina with the Reverend Jennifer G. Brown officiating and Elder Derrick Scott, Presiding. Assisting will be Elder Judy Richardson, Reverend Melody C. Morton, Reverend Myron D. Hill, Reverend James Coleman, Reverend Kimberly Martin, Reverend Quincy Baylor and Brother Eric Pinkett. Burial will be in the Greenwood Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum.  The body will be placed in the center at 11:00 A.M.

Pallbearers will be Theodore Moore, Demarcus Morton, Antrevis Gilliam, Titus Greene, Andrew Greene, and Shun Payne.

Flower Bearers will be Annie Chanona, Shonda Rapp, Piffanie Hamilton, Callie Moses, Danielle Carroll, Whitney Nicholson, Kristy Polly, Jeriecka Tate and D'atra Williams.

Honorary Escorts will be the Greenwood High School Class of 1978 and The Democratic Party.
