Mrs. Sarah Jane Byrd, age 80, departed this life on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at her home.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Leroy Byrd, Sr. of 54 years and one son, Mr. Darrell Byrd.

She was the daughter of the late Rose Middleton and Charlie Harper, but was reared in the home of Sarah and Boisey Bishop.  She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Pride Chapter #636 and Women's Home Aide Society #87.  Sarah was a loving mother, sister and friend.

She leaves to cherish her most precious memories are; four daughters, Cheryl (Ronnie) Gordon of Prince George, VA; Angela Malave of Charleston, SC; Deborah McDowell of Covington, GA; and Kimberly Byrd of Greenwood, SC;  three sons, Leroy (Tina) Byrd, Jr., Michael (Tammie) Byrd and Willie (Trina) Byrd all of Greenwood, SC; twenty-five grandchildren, twenty-six  great grandchildren five sisters, Dorothy Wilson and Jessie Mae Bennett of Bridgeport, CT; Rev. Louise (George) Williams of Calhoun Falls, SC; Patricia Harley of Anderson, SC; and Glenda (Richard) Glenn of Greenwood, SC; three brothers, Charles (Marie) Middleton of Columbus, GA; Boggs (Emma) Middlleton and Albert (Jan) Bishop of Greenwood, SC; one brother-in-law, James Byrd, Jr., of Greenwood, SC;  and a host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Mount Moriah Baptist Church with Reverend Raymond Adams officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Leroy Byrd, III, Jamal Byrd, Ronnie Gordon, Jr., Kye Key, Alvin Byrd and Gabriel McDowell. Flower Bearers will be Dalenna Lee, Ariana Gordon, Jazmyne MDowell, Shai McDowell, Sherelle Gordon and Areanna Lee.  Honorary Escorts will be the Women's Home Aide Society #87.

The family will receive visitors at the home, 122 Warren Road, in the Promised Land Community of Greenwood, South Carolina.
