On Tuesday, afternoon, September 27, 2022 God's Angel guided Sammie Charles Cooper, Sr., to his heavenly home.  Sammie was born August 20, 1935 to the late Anna Wardlaw Jones.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Mae Fisher Cooper, brother, Eugene Hughey and son, Sammie Charles Cooper, Jr.

He was a trustee at Mount Tabor Baptist Church and a member of Masonic Goodwill Lodge #338.  Sammie retired from Greenwood Mills after 30 years prior to Greenwood Packing Plant.

Sammie leaves to cherish fond memories, three daughters, Teresa (Oliver) Pope of Greenwood, South Carolina; Louise (Jimmy) Person of Greensboro, North Carolina; and Lynn Cooper of Columbia, South Carolina; two sons, Garry (Tanya) Cooper of Greenwood, South Carolina and Larry (Sandra) Cooper of Lyman, South Carolina; thirteen grandchildren, one reared in the home, Trey (Monique) Cooper of Union, New Jersey; twenty-five great grandchildren, ten great great grandchildren and one sister, Daisy Douglas of Cleveland, Ohio.

Sammie leaves four sisters-in-law, Linda Hughey of Cleveland, Ohio, Lizzie Ervin (Pete) of Greenwood, South Carolina; Estelle Mathis and Helen Parks both of Greenville, South Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Public viewing will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 1-6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Service will be held at 3 P.M. on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Mount Tabor Baptist Church with Bishop Emanuel Spearman, Officiating and Reverend Tony Foster, Presiding. Assisting will be Pastor Roger L. Rivers and Reverend Hattie Henderson.
