Ruth Coats, 79, of 230 East Cambridge Avenue, Apartment 115, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood, South Carolina.

Born August 9, 1940 in Greenwood County, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Smith and late Measie Coats.

"Missy" as she was called by her family and friends loved to read and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. She attended Durham Temple C. M. E. Church until her health declined.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister, Ruby Wilson and two brothers, Ben Coats and Willie Coats.

She is survived by one son, Michael Coats and one daughter, Linda Walters both of Greenwood, South Carolina; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one brother, David (Mabel) Coats,  one son-in-law, Bobby Walters along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will cherish her memories.
Home Going service will be held at noon on Monday, December 16, 2019 at Dunham Temple C.M.E. Church with the Reverend James McKee, Sr., officiating. Burial will be in Evening Star Cemetery. The body will be placed In the Church at 11:00 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Darnell Dixon, James Johnson, Trevin Johnson, Justin Johnson, Vince Coates, Mark Wilson and Sherman Wilson.  Flower Bearers will be Erica Fields, Melinda Dixon, Renae Johnson, Teresa Coats and Linnie Sanders.

The family is at the home of her son, Michael Coats, 219 Herbert Court (Raintree Subdivision) in Greenwood, South Carolina.
