Rickey Jerome Martin, 69, of Greenwood, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on February 21, 2026 at the Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont after a brief illness.

Born on June 23, 1956, to the late Harry Martin Jr. and Allean Martin, Rickey was a lifelong resident of Greenwood, South Carolina. He was a proud 1974 graduate of Greenwood High School and later answered the call to serve his country in the United States Navy. His military service reflected his strength, discipline, and deep sense of responsibility—qualities that remained evident throughout his life.

After completing his service, Rickey returned home and continued to live a life firmly grounded in faith, family, and commitment to those he loved. He was a member of Springfield Baptist Church, where he worshipped and served with dedication. His faith was a guiding force in his life and a foundation upon which he built his values, relationships, and legacy.

Rickey was the husband to his beloved wife, Renee Martin, and a proud father to their four children: La'Shawnda Martin of Abbeville, South Carolina; Krystal Martin of Huntsville, Alabama; Justin Martin of Abbeville, South Carolina; and Darian (Rochell) Martin of Elkton, Maryland. He cherished his family deeply and took great pride in being a provider, protector, and steady presence in their lives.

He was also a loving and proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Jalen Martin, Tylea Martin, Caleb Martin, Kemije Turman, Cameron Bates, Kailyn Bates, Kinsley Hailey, Victoria Martin, and Lakee Tanner. His grandchildren were a tremendous source of joy, and he treasured every moment spent with them.

In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, Rickey leaves to cherish his memory one brother, Harry (Julia) Martin; three sisters, Sarah Anderson, Charlene Floyd, and Reverend Doctor Kimberly Martin, all of Greenwood, South Carolina; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering love for his family, and faithful heart. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on in all who were blessed to know him.

Public viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 from 12-6 P.M. at the funeral home.

A celebration of Rickey Jerome Martin life will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 1pm at Springfield Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Kimberly Martin officiating and Pastor James Duncan presiding. Assisting will be Reverend Sheryl Kemp-Bailey, Dr. James Fisher, Archbishop Emanuel Spearman, Reverend Christopher Thomas and Jitwan Floyd, Esq. The body will be placed in the church at 12 Noon. Interment will be in Evening Star Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be nephews and great nephews. Flower Bearers will be nieces and great nieces. Honorary Escorts will be the Greenwood High School Class of 1974.

The family Is at the home of his sister, Sarah Anderson, 106 Vintage Court in the Mill Pond Subdivision.
