Rena Burton Nelson 64, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 1, 2024 at Self Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born in Greenwood County, South Carolina on April 1, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth Burton Prince and the late James E. Mayes.

She was educated in the public schools of Greenwood, South Carolina and was employed with the textile mills until her health began to fail.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Bruce L. Mayes and her spouse.

Leaving to cherish her most fond and precious memories are her great uncle, William (Bertha) Jones; great aunt, Janie P. Fisher; aunt, Emma L. Mayes Kabba of Norristown, Pennsylvania; uncles, Bobby L. Mayes of New York, New York and Robert Lee Watts of Pellion, South Carolina. She is also survived by a host of cousins, other family and friends who loved her and truly will miss her.
