Mr. Ples Holmes III , of 837 East Cambridge Avenue, Greenwood, South Carolina entered into eternal rest on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at the Iva Rehabilitation  and Healthcare in Iva, South Carolina.

Raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he the son of the late Ples Holmes, Jr. and Lillian Ruth Holmes. He was active in church and community affairs and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

He joined  the United States Air Force in 1955 where he was stationed in East, West, North and Southern United States; Far East, Vietnam and Europe. After twenty years of service Ples retired in 1975.  He helped his fellow veterans back and forth to the V.A.  He also Boxed and taught many Art and Skill Boxing.  He loved Marshal Arts and Contact Sports. He loved to refer to himself as a human weapon.  He belonged to a social Fraternity and also a member of the Veterans of Foreign War, Disable American Veterans and of the  Retired Air Force Association.

He is survived by  one sister, Betty Wilson of Greenwood, South Carolina and a host of nieces and nephews to cherish his memories.

Funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Mars Hill Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Marvin Hughes, officiating assisted by Reverend William Norman and Reverend Gail Norman.  Burial will be in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Cross Hill, South Carolina.  The body will place in the church at 11:00 am.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family and flower bearers will be nieces.

The family will receive friends on Friday Evening, October 20, 2017 at Parks Funeral Home Chapel from 6 to 7 p.m.

The family is at the home of his sister, Betty Wilson, 319 McKellar Drive, Greenwood, South Carolina.
