THE OBITUARY OF

Peggy Lee Roundtree Light

May 17, 1952 – June 30, 2026

With hearts filled with both sorrow and the hope found in Jesus Christ, we celebrate the life and homegoing of Peggy Lee Roundtree Light, who entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on June 30, 2026 at the age of 74.

Born on May 17, 1952 in Greenwood SC, she was the beloved daughter of James and Rosa Lee Roundtree. Throughout her life, she demonstrated unwavering faith in God and quietly honored Him through her love for her family and friends.

She was a member of Old Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she joined at a very young age. Her life reflected the love of Christ, and she found great joy in spending time with her family and friends.

She was married to Joe Nathan Light and they were blessed with one amazing son Aaron Light (Bridget). She was a loving mother to Aaron and a cherished grandmother to Aaron A. Light II and Elijah A. Light. Her family was one of God's greatest blessings in her life.

She also leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Rosa Lee Roundtree, two brothers - Monroe Roundtree and James Roundtree, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her father, James Roundtree, Sr.

Those who knew her will remember her gentle spirit, warm smile, steadfast faith, and willingness to help anyone in need. She lived by the words of Christ, extending grace, kindness, and love wherever she went. Her prayers strengthened her family, and her testimony inspired everyone blessed to know her.

While we grieve her absence, we rejoice in God's promise that she has received her heavenly reward. As the Apostle Paul wrote:

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness..." — 2 Timothy 4:7–8

Public viewing will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2026 from 1-6 P.M. at the funeral home.

A celebration of her life will be held on July 6, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Old Mount Zion Baptist Church, with Pastor Danny R. Webb presiding. The body will be placed in the church at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Old Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Though her earthly journey has ended, her legacy of faith, love, and devotion to God will continue to inspire generations to come. We rejoice knowing that, through faith in Jesus Christ, we will see her again.
