McKinlely Goodwin, 89,, of 1116 East Cambridge Avenue departed his life on Friday, September 28, 2018.  He is survived by his wife, Ruby Dean Peterson Goodwin, children, McKinley Goodwin, Jr. (Eddy) of Jacksonville, FL, Rev. Thessa (Byron) Smith, Pandora Goodwin and Rev. LaShown (Janice) Goodwin all of Greenwood, SC; grandchildren, Donta Dupre Goodwin, of Lynwick, Ky, Cheryl NaCole Smith, Bryon Blanton Smith of Phenom Penn Cambodia, LaShonda Jannice' Goodwin, Rhonda McKenzie Bryant and William Anthony Goodwin of Greenwood, four great grandchildren, sister, Margie Andrews of Waterbury, CT and brother, Timothy Goodwin of Atlanta, GA.  He was the son of the late Callis and Cora Williams Goodwin.

"Mack" as called by his co-workers and was employed at Monsanto (Solutia) and retired with over twenty-five years of service in addition to retiring from Greenwood School District 50 where he was known as "Pop" to co-workers, teachers and students.  He served in the U S States Army and returned home after his assignment in the Korean War.  A member of the American Legion Post 224, he was inducted into the Greenwood County Veterans Hall of Hero in 2013.

Deacon McKinley was a member of Young's Chapel Baptist Church where he was an active supporter of the LRMBA "Baptist Center".  He served on the Deacon Ministry, Brotherhood, Sunday School Teacher, Usher and Choir Member.

Pop enjoyed life to the fullest that included bowling, fishing and weekly gym visits until his health declined.  He will be missed but his legacy will continue.

Public viewing will be held at the Greenwood County Veteran Center on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 from 2 - 6 p.m. followed by a memorial service.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Young's Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. James Holmes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.

Pallbearers will be the American Legion Post 224;

Flower Bearers will be the Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 224.
