Mattie Mae Tolbert Christopher, 85, widow of Willie J. Christopher, Sr., of 217 Cannon Road entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Greenwood County, South Carolina on March 11, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Ruth Davis and the late Frank Tolbert.

She was a member of Jacob Chapel Baptist Church and later joined Mount Moriah Baptist Church.

She attended Brewer High School and was an entrepreneur. Mattie was the owner and operator of “Mattie’s Cake’s from scratch for over 15 years in Greenwood, South Carolina. Mattie was her happiest baking cakes, pies and being the candy lady for the kids in the neighborhood.

Leaving to cherish her most precious memories are; two sons, Aaron D. Christopher of Atlanta, Georgia and Willie J. Christpher, Jr., of Greenwood, South Carolina; two sisters, May Ruth Rapley of Hodges, South Carolina and Sarah Cato of Florence, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Terrance Thomas, Adriene Adams, Aaron D. Christoper, II and Christina Christopher; three great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026 from 1-6 P.M. at the funeral home.

Homegoing service for Mattie Mae Tolbert Christopher will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Mount Moriah Baptist Church with Bishop Dr. Dexter Cannon, Pastor and Officiating and Reverend Raymond Adams, Presiding. Assisting will be Pastor William Moton and Pastor Randy Holloway. The body will be placed in the church at 11:00 A.M.

Pallbearers will be John Bowie, John Gilliam, Dennis Higgins, Jaleel Thomas, Thomas Whetsel, Larry Lomax.

In lieu of flowers make donations in memory of Mattie M. Christopher to Mount Moriah Baptist Church.
