Mr. Matthew Columbus Wells, 85, of 118 Spring Woods Trail entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 22, 2023 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Greenwood County, South Carolina on April 14, 1938, he was the son of the late James Wells and the late Gertrude Precha Jones.

He was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church and was employed with Moore's Business Firm for over forty years of dedicated service.

Matthew is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Betty Jean Lomax, one brother, Clifton C. Wells and his stepfather, Ernest Jones.

Leaving to cherish his most fond and precious memories are his loving wife, Dorothy Jean Crawford Wells of the home; three stepchildren, Constance Moton, George Ware and Tammy Aiken all of Greenwood, South Carolina; one sister, Linda Jones Williams of Greenwood, South Carolina; three brothers, James Ernest Wells, Willie R. Wells and Jackie Lee Jones all of Greenwood, South Carolina; three granddaughters, one grandson and a special great grandchild. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Public viewing will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 1-6 P.M. at the funeral home.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Mount Moriah Baptist Church with Reverend Raymond Adams officiating. Burial will be in Evening Star Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 P.M.
