HODGES -- Martha Gantt, of 1016 Miller Road, Hodges, SC, died Thursday, August 10, 2017 at her home.

She was born in Clevend County, NC, to the late Carrie and the late Prentis Horne.

She was a long time employee of the Treasury Dept. in Washington, DC. After meeting her husband, Jessie Gantt, she moved to Greenwood. She graduated from Piedmont Technical College with an associate degree in Business. She worked for and retired from the same school where she worked for many years as administrative assistant to the Vice President. She was a member of Macedonia CME Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Debay Hill of Hodges, SC; a son, Jessie Gantt, Jr. of Greenwood, SC; one brother, Arthur Horne of Landover, Maryland; two granddaughters, Imani Hill of Gardendale, Alabama, and Jessika Gantt of Greenwood, SC; one great-granddaughter, Savannah Hubbard of Gardendale, Alabama.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at noon at Macedonia CME Church, 5001 Emerson Street, Hodges, SC 29653, with Rev. Edward Moutrie, Jr., pastor and presiding, Rev. Ida Mae Shipman officiating. The family will have visitation at the church 11 a.m. until hour of service. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
