Marion Angelo Payne

Marion Angelo “Bear” Payne, 68, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026 in Greenwood, South Carolina.

Born on April 19, 1958, he was the son of the late Marion Payne and Elma Drennon Payne.

He spent his career serving his community doing maintenance for the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT).

Marion was also a talented craftman who found great joy working as a carpet layer, creating pieces that showcased his dedication, hard work and eye for detail.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Elma Payne and one brother, Vincent L. Payne.

His memory will be cherished by his loving family including his two daughters, Rikesia Witt and Angela Payne, two sons, Aubin (Whitney) Payne and Akevious Payne; two sisters, Sabrina Payne Johnson, and Aletha (Robert) Graham; one brother, Michael Payne; He is also survived by his uncle, Matthew Payne; 7 grandchildren, 1 great grand, 6 nephews, 3 nieces, great nieces, and great nephews.

Public viewing will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026 from 1-6 P.M. at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at Mount Tabor Baptist Church with Reverend Willie Cannady officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family is at their respective homes.
