Marguerite Payne's Obituary
Marguerite Payne 87, of 203 Booker Street, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022.
She was born in Saluda, South Carolina and was the daughter of the late John Abney and the late Kadell Bugg.
Marguerite Payne worked for the telephone company for 25 years. After retiring, she moved to Greenwood SC where she volunteered and faithfully served as a member of Trinity UMC Church for over 30 years. She loved working in the kitchen, serving members, families of the church and the community for special events and occasions.
She is preceded in death by her sisters Merriman Spellman and Ora Mae Bouknight.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Matthew Payne and her five daughters: Arlene Warmsley, Adrienne Haynes, Cynthia Terrell, Michelle Bridgewater and Erica Covington. She has 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Service will be at 2 P.M. on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Reverend Thessa G. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Evening Star Cemetery.
Pallbearers and Flower Bearers will be friends of the family.
Public viewing will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022, from 1-2 P.M. at the church.
