On November 12, 2021, Mae Francies known as "Coot" Grant,  was called home to our Lord and Savior to fly among the angels after a brief illness. Mae Francies was born in McCormick County, South Carolina  on August 26, 1942 to the late Frank David Laster and Caroline Mae Drennon.

Mae Francies attended public schools in her younger years and began working as a spinner at Regal Mills in Ware Shoals, SC.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Asberry Grant; two children, Linda Louis Bookman and Tommy Henry Laster; and one brother, Willie James Laster.

Mae Francies devoted her time and energy to her church family and especially to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her charm and smile lighted up any room she walked in.

She is survived by her sons, William Asberry (Juanita) Grant of Conyers, Georgia. and Tyrone Kenneth (Jessicah) Grant of Abbeville, South Carolina;  daughters, Betty Sue Laster of Laurens, South Carolina and Martha Jean Gaines of Waterloo, South Carolina;  sister, Mary Magdalene Belcher of Columbia, South Carolina;  brother, Frank Laster of Greenwood, South Carolina; 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends

Funeral service will be held at 1P.M. on Friday, November 19, 2021 at Marshall Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend Eric Morton, Pastor and Officiating and assisted by, Reverend Roosevelt Brooks and Minister Alicia Jones. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at noon.

Pallbearers will be Whitney Laster, Williams Grant, Jr., Charles Gaines, DeShannon Bookman, Terrence Quarles and Curtis Blakley, Sr.  Flower Bearers will be family and friends.

Public viewing will held from 1-6 P.M. on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the funeral home.

The family is at the home of her daughter, Betty S. Laster, 418 Fairview Rd in Lauren, SC.
