Leonard "Tub" Towns, age 62, of Greenwood, SC, entered eternal rest on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Self Regional Healthcare following a long-term illness.

Born on August 16, 1962, in Greenwood, South Carolina, Leonard was a proud native son of the community he loved and served throughout his life. He was the son of the late Bernice Carter and Leonard Towns Sr.

Known affectionately as "Tub," Leonard was a man of quiet strength, deep loyalty, and a warm smile. He had a deep love for westerns and could often be found watching his favorite classic films. He was a faithful and devoted member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church of Plum Branch, SC. His love for community showed in everything he did from his years of hard work to the young athletes he mentored.

Leonard was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Carter, father Leonard Towns Sr., a sister Carolyn "Cadillac" Carter, brothers George "GC" Carter, Kenneth Carter, Ralph "Tip" Carter, Robert Earl "Rock" Carter.

He leaves to cherish his memory three siblings: Mary Louise Gilmore of Greenwood, SC; Janet (Frederick) De'Silva of Columbia, SC; and Bernard (Margaret) Towns of Ware Shoals, SC; stepfather to Sherman Coats, LaKrystal Coats, and Andre Coats, all of Greenwood, SC; two uncles; Joe Lewis (Elizabeth) Towns of Washington, GA; Wille Ray (Annelle) Carter of Greenwood, SC; three aunts Elevina Harden of Washington, GA; Caroyln Carter of Greenwood, SC; Patricia Carter of Greenwood, SC and his devoted companion and special friend, Loretta Denise Scurry of Greenwood, SC. A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many cousins.

A celebration of Life for Leonard "Tub" Towns will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 5, 2025 in the chapel of Parks Funeral Home.

The family is at the home, 857 Meadow Street, Greenwood.
