It is with great sadness that the family of LaToya Terez Witherspoon, 44,  affectionately known as "Redd," announces her heavenly transition after an extended illness.

"Redd," was born and educated in Greenwood, S.C. She was the daughter of Sarah (Fred) Anderson and Norman (Paula) McMinns.

"Redd," began her pilgrimage with the Lord, at Springfield Baptist Church where she maintains her membership. Blessed with the gift of song, she used her angelic voice to offer praises to our God. One of her all time favorite songs that became her mantra throughout her courageous battle with Cancer is "My life is in his hands." On any given day, she could be heard singing assuredly, "I know that I can make it. I know that I can stand. No matter what may come my way my life is in his hands. With Jesus I can make it, with him I know I can stand, no matter what may come my way, my life is in his hands."  On Tuesday morning, Sept 7, without providing us with any further notices, she answered the Master's call "Come ye blessed of my father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; and she departed this walk of life for a land of no more. No more sickness, treatments, pain, doctor's visits, or tears.

"Redd" leaves behind to cherish her memories, and carry on her legacy, her parents, her loving and dedicated husband, Lavander Witherspoon, daughter, Pandoria Nyshay Martin, stepdaughter, Alexis Witherspoon, granddaughter, Nevaeh Ja'Nae Martin, (3) sisters; Felicia (Lonnie) Miller, Jasmine Martin-Jackson, and twin sister, Latonya (Derrick) Parks, (3) brothers; Morrico Anderson, Teague Peterson, and Brandon Wright, (5) aunts; Charlene Floyd, Reverend Kimberly Martin, Gloria McMinns, Georgia Crenshaw, Rosalyn (Marshall) McMinns, (3) uncles; Harry (Julia) Martin, Rickey Martin, and Ivory McMinns, grandparents; Parthenia McMinns and Herman McMinns Sr, and a cloud of witnesses, that includes  a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, as well as, bonus family members whose lives are all the better simply because Toya came our way.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, September 13, 2021 at New Generations Outreach Center with the Reverend Christopher Thomas, Pastor and Reverend Kimberly Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Evening Star Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews, Flower Bearers will be nieces and Shayla Andrews and Honorary Escorts will be the Cancer Group.

Public viewing will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 1-6 P.M. at the funeral home.
