Kendrick Payne, 40, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Lexington Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina.

Born in Greenwood County, South Carolina on May 19, 1982, he was the son of Annie Payne and the late Sam Payne, Sr.

Kendrick was well known for being a great musician and was an avid member of the marching band during his school days.  He enjoyed music and participated until his health declined. Kendrick was also member of the Black Cats Motorcycle Club.

He is preceded in death by his father, Sam Payne, Sr.; two brothers, Sam Payne, Jr., and Ollie Payne.

He is survived by his wife, Vernesha Payne; one daughter, Jamya Payne and one stepdaughter, LE'Pierrh Caldwell. Also leaving to cherish his precious memoires are his mother, Annie Payne; one sister, Ojetta (Bill) Smith; one brother, Kodi Sanders; two grandchildren, Princeton Caldwell and Kingston Caldwell; three nieces, Vahshay (Brandon) Watts, Ashley Payne and Brittany Payne; two nephews, Lavar (Keisha) Smith and Jamar (Tondineya) Smith; his in-laws, Vernon and Joyce Caldwell; along with a host of great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will truly miss him.

Public viewing will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 1-6 P.M. at the funeral home.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 10922 SC-39 in Cross Hill, South Carolina with the Reverend David A. Sullivan, Pastor and Officiating. Assisting will be Reverend Amos Harling, Reverend Leroy Robertson and Reverend Harry Mansel.  Burial will be in Second Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery in Greenwood, South Carolina.

Pallbearers will be nephews and Flower Bearers will be nieces.

The family is at the home of his mother, Annie Payne, 411 Freetown Road in Hodges, South Carolina.
