Mr. John Archie Patterson was born on April 19, 1958 in McCormick, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Hellen Patterson and Joseph Wilson.

John Archie grew up in a small community nurtured by his loving mother and grandmother. He obtained his high school diploma from McCormick High School in 1975.  He worked at Georgia Pacific in McCormick, South Carolina for over 20 years until his retirement. "John Archie" as he was affectionally called was known for his loving spirit and continuously checking on his siblings and children. He was also a diehard fan of the Miami Dolphins football team.  John Archie had a heart of gold; no matter what life threw at him, he always had a positive outlook. Life was not always easy, but he never complained or stopped smiling.  He never let the issues of life bring him down.

John Archie lived a life full of love and good times with family and friends.  At the age of 66, he unexpectedly entered into eternal rest while sleeping at his home in Greenwood, South Carolina.

In addition to his parents, John Archie was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence Patterson, Sr.

Left to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted family, four children, John (Karen) Tennant of Elgin, South Carolina; Shannon (Clarence) Searles of Greenwood, South Carolina; Jamar Tennant of Elberton, Georgia and Jerrell Franklin of Newberry, South Carolina; three brothers, Ed Curtis Patterson of McCormick, South Carolina; Charles (Lynn) Patterson of Greenwood, South Carolina and Wayne Wilson of Maryland; six sisters, Reverend Carrie (John) Samuel of Greenwood, South Carolina; Janette Patterson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Jennifer Scott of California; Lisa Patterson of McCormick, South Carolina; Dr. Brenda (Gregory) Patterson-Ishmael of Neeses, South Carolina and Patricia Patterson of Newberry, South Carolina; eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, a special cousin, Willie Durant of McCormick, South Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

John Archie will be forever missed; his life, love and legacy will be cherished as his journey on earth is now complete.

A celebration of John Archie Patterson's life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 5, 2024 in the chapel of Parks Funeral Home with the Reverend Carrie P. Samuel officiating.
