John Henry Gilliam "Red" 76, of Greenwood entered through heaven's gates on Monday, January 13, 2025.

Born on January 17, 1948, he was the son of the late Mr. Earl Baylor and the late Mrs. Carolyn Greene.

John served the Greenwood Community as a dedicated lifeguard for many years at the Seaboard Recreation Center. He retired from Greenwood Mills and was a member of Weston Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Randall Gilliam.

Leaving to cherish his loving memories are his wife, Alice Elam Gilliam, four sons, Russell (Angela) Gilliam, Reggie Gilliam, Brandon Gilliam and Christopher Williams all of Greenwood, South Carolina; one daughter, Monica Williams, one sister, Mary (Ricky) Gilliam Irving, one brother, Homer (Catherine) Gilliam of Greenwood, South Carolina.  He was blessed with sixteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and many other family and friends to mourn his passing.

Public viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 from 1-6 P.M. at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, January 16, 2025 in the chapel of Parks Funeral Home with the Reverend Willie Neal Norman, Jr., Officiating. Reverend Johnnie Waller will be assisting. Burial will be in Evening Star Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be nephews and friends of the family. Flower Bearers will be nieces.

The family is at the home, 206 Georgia Ave.
