John Bernard "Bernie" Brown, age 60, departed this life on August 19, 2025, at HCA Orange Park Hospital, Orange Park Florida, after a brief illness.

Bernie was born on October 17, 1964 in Manhattan, New York.  The road of life led him to Hodges, South Carolina, at the age of 12 years of age. He was reared in a loving and nurturing home environment by his parents.  He was baptized at Youngs Chapel Baptist Church where he faithfully attended while living in Hodges.  He graduated from Greenwood High in 1985.  In 1987 he received a diploma in Industrial Engineering Technology from Piedmont Technical College in 1987.  In 1991, he enlisted in the Navy and was stationed on the USS Theodore Roosevelt.  His time in the navy allowed him to see the world. He had the opportunity to travel to Dubai and Iceland.  He was honorably discharged on March 16, 1999.

Bernie loved football.  He loved following the college teams and one of his favorite NFL teams were the Carolina Panthers.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mattie Brown, and widower Evonne R. Brown.

Bernie leaves to treasure his memories, his aunt, Mary Ellen Goodwin Brown of Aberdeen, Maryland, a Special Friend, Alicia Williams and her family, of Jacksonville, Florida and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Public viewing will be held on Saturday August 30, 2025 from 10-11 A.M. one hour prior to the service.

Funeral service for John Bernard Brown will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Parks Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evening Star Cemetery.
