Mrs. Janette V. Ligon, peacefully departed this life on October 4, 2024, at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood, South Carolina. She was born on September 7, 1950 in Greenwood, South Carolina, to the late Mr. James Thomas Edwards and Mrs. Willie C. Edwards-Thackston.

Janette is a graduate of Brewer High School. She was married to Deacon Bobby Ligon for 39 years.

She was employed with Eaton Cooperation for many years, until her retirement.

She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she served as a faithful deaconess, choir member, and missionary for many years.

She was preceded in death by her son, Rodney Edwards and parents.

Janette leaves to cherish her loving husband, Deacon Bobby Ligon; one sister, Sandra Milner; two-step sons, Christopher Alvin Smith and Laron Anderson; three grandchildren, Dr. Asia Edwards, Mya Edwards, Calvin Edwards; five step-grandchildren, Kadedra Hicks, Christopher Smith, Christian Smith, Dasia Jackson, and AJ Smith; one step great grandchild, Adrianna.  She also leaves a host of relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 4 - 7 P.M. at Parks Funeral Home.

A celebration of life for Janette "Janet" Ligon will be held at 12 noon on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Reverend Quincy Baylor, Pastor, Reverend Rebecca Aiken, Officiating and Reverend Sylvester Jackson, Presiding. Assisting will be Dr. Juann Edmondson, Reverend Sylvester Grant, Elder Cheryl Patterson and Reverend Hattie Henderson. The body will be placed in the church at 11:00 A.M. Burial will in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

Honorary Escorts will be Paulette Randall, Paulette Smith, Loretta Parker and Jacqueline Williams.

Pallbearers will be Friends of the family. Flower Bearers will be Friends of the family.

The family is at the home, 8023 Highway 178 South in Ninety-Six, South Carolina.
