James Lawson Scott, "Cheeseburger" 66, of 104 Brush Road, Hodges, South Carolina passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022 at his home.

Born  January 1, 1956 in Greenwood, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Elisha and Leoma Scott.

James graduated from Greenwood High School, served in the military and was employed with Geadis for 17 years.

James enjoyed fishing and loved sitting in his truck listening to the oldies. He was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

James was a member of Dunham Temple C.M.E. Church and he often attended Good Hope Baptist Church.

James was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Wendell, Sammie and Richard; one sister, Pamela.

James leaves to cherish his memories; his loving and faithful wife, Dorothy Mays Scott; two daughters, Shandrika Scott of Hodges, South Carolina and Ayanna (Gabriel) Jones of Ware Shoals, South Carolina; two sons, Phillip and Terrell Mays of Hodges, South Carolina; one sister, Vera Archie of St. Petersburg, Virginia; two brothers, Gerald Scott and Stanley (Catherine) Johnson both of Greenwood, South Carolina; one sister-in-law, Brenda Williams of Ware Shoals, South Carolina; 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several aunts, a host of loving nephews, nieces, relatives and a best buddy, Laron Anderson.

Funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Dunham Temple C.M.E. Church with Reverend James McKee officiating. Assisting will be Reverend Delores Henderson and Minister Linda Black. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Flower Bearers will be granddaughters and nieces.

Public viewing will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 1-6 P.M. at the funeral home.
