James Marion Hackett, Jr., 69, was born August 28, 1954, in Greenwood, South Carolina. He was the son of the late James Marion Hackett Sr. and Thomasina Rucker Hackett, the grandson of the late Julian Hackett, the late Nezzie T. Griffin Hackett and the late Ann Rucker.  James was one of God's faithful servants and was called home on May 23, 2024.

James attended the Burton Center where he received many skills in independent living.  He was a faithful member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, where he was a devoted member of the men's Sunday School class and various choirs.  James loved to dress well and wear stylish clothing.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his aunts: Frances Taylor, Jeanette White, Marie Pope, Mary White, Helen Long, Lucille Blair and Mildred Johnson; uncles: Alston and Reginald Rucker, and Frank Hackett; two nephews: Donald and Dusty Williams; step-brothers: Zachary, Kenneth, Elston and Wayne Mackey; and one sister: Cheryl Mackey, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly.

James was an overcomer of many obstacles during his lifetime and during his transitional days, his faith allowed him to cope with resilience and dignity.

Public viewing will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2024 from 1-6 PM. at Parks Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, May 27, 2024 at Mount Moriah Baptist Church with Reverend Raymond Adams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Little River Multicultural Baptist Association (LRMBA) and the Burton Center.

The family is at the home of his aunt, Marie H. Pope, 114 N. Bethune Street.
