Mr. James Donald Griffin , 71, affectionally known as "Caveman", "Boodie" and "Greenwood" departed this life on Tuesday, April 12, 2023 at his home.

Born on July 21, 1951, he was the son of the late Henry Lee "Jim" Griffin and the late Leola Holloway Griffin.

He was a faithful member of Marshall Chapel Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and served as a transportation driver for the church members. James was very active in the church and held many other positions in the church.

He is preceded in death by two sisters, Lizzette Henderson and Mary Settles; three brothers, Bonnie Griffin, Larry Griffin and Jerry L. Griffin.

James graduated from Greenwood High School in 1971 and served in the Air Force for six years.  He was a longtime employee of the Coastal Railroad System. James found joy in training dogs while he served in the Air Force and at his home for many years.

Leaving to cherish his precious memories are two sisters, Edna (Johnny) Mattison of Cokesbury, South Carolina and Patricia Adams of Ninety, Six, South Carolina; one brother, Henry Lee Griffin of Greenwood, South Carolina; three stepchildren, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held on Monday, April 17, 2023 from 1-6 p.m. at Parks Funeral Home.

Funeral service for James Donald Griffin will be held at 1p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Marshall Chapel Baptist Church, 2318 Louden Road in Ninety, Six, South Carolina with the Reverend Eric Morton, Pastor and Officiating. Assisting will be Reverend Robert McClinton, Reverend MacField Holloway and Minister LaKeisha Brinson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at noon.

Pallbearers will be Zac Oliver, Colbis Griffin, Travis Adams, Keith Griffin, Keith Adams and Malcolm Mattison.

Flower Bearers will be Candice Evans, Tammie Griffin, Felicia Mattison, Mary Oliver and Linda Griffin Oliver.
