Mr. James Arthur "Scooter" Scott, 72, widower of Mercedes Scott departed this earthly life on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at his home.

He was employed with the Covidien Plant in Greenwood, South Carolina where he retired after forty years of service.

"Scooter" as he was affectionally called by his family and friends is preceded in death by his wife, parents, Robert L. Scott, Sr. and Nellie Scott; two brothers, Robert L. Scott, Jr. and Charles Scott; two sisters, Willie M. Gilchrist and Linda P. Martin; one niece, Demetria Gilchrist.

Leaving to cherish his most fond and precious memories are; one sister, Betty Jean Gilchrist of Greenwood, South Carolina; four nephews, Thomas L. Gilchrist of the home; Samuel Martin, Johnny Gilchrist and Michael Scott all of Greenwood, South Carolina;  six nieces, Barbara (Jerome) Lomax and Brenda Turner of Greenville, South Carolina; Jacqueline Martin, Belinda Moore, Valerie Scott and Sandy Scott all of Greenwood, South Carolina;  one sister-in-law, Pauline Scott of Greenwood, South Carolina; one step daughter, Stephanie Simpson, two step granddaughters, Amber Simpson and Syeeda Simpson all of Columbia, South Carolina and a host of great nieces, nephews and cousins to mourn his passing.

Public viewing will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 1-6 P.M at Parks Funeral Home.

A celebration of Life for Mr. James Arthur "Scooter" Scott will be held at 2 P.M. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 in the chapel of Parks Funeral Home with Archbishop Dr. Emanuel Spearman officiating. Burial will be in Evening Star Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family. Flower Bearers will be friends of the family.

The family is at the home 2302 East Cambridge Avenue Extension.
