Horace Carlton “June” Wideman, Jr., 73, of 118 A Sutrumer Street, Rheine Germany entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at the Jacobi Hospital in Rheine Germany.

Born in McCormick County, South Carolina on September 30, 1952, he was the son of the late Horace Carlton “Pie” Wideman, Sr., and the late Dorothy Settles Wideman.

He was a former member of Shiloh African Methodist Episcopal Church in McCormick, South Carolina and was a 1970 graduate of Mims High School.

“June” as he was called by his family and friends served his country in the branch of the United States Army in the field of Infantry for twelve years.

He was formerly employed with the International Food Company and was a Gardner who specialized in roses. He also was an entrepreneur who owned Toy Stores (TOY TOY TOY'S) in Germany.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Dorothy Wideman; two sisters, Maxine W. Jennings and Beverly W. Leverett; two brothers, Joe Nathan “Harold” Wideman and Cedric Elijah Wideman.

Leaving to cherish his most fond and precious memories are; his wife of fifty-three years, Gabriele “Gabi” Pompe Wideman of the home; two sons, Daniel Otto Wideman of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Jeremy Setursky of Rheine, Germany; one sister, Melanie W. Rucker of Greenwood, South Carolina; three brothers, Emory Wideman of Killeen, Texas, David Reginald “Carrie” Wideman of San Antonio, Texas and Erwin A. Wideman of Greenwood, South Carolina; one aunt, Maude W. Singletary of Detroit, Michigan, one uncle, Elder Timothy Settles of Atlanta, Georgia and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

A celebration of life for Horace Carlton Wideman, Jr., will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Shiloh African Methodist Episcopal Church in McCormick, South Carolina with the Reverend Paul Nelson Wharton, Officiating and Reverend Dr. Larry D. Murphy, Assisting.

Honorary Escorts will be the Mims High School Class of 1970.

The family is at the home of his sister, Melanie W. Rucker, 320 Chinquapin Road, Greenwood, South Carolina.
