Mr. Herbert Rapley, Sr., was born June 30, 1947, in Greenwood, South Carolina to the late Connie Reynolds Rapley and George Rapley, Sr. He departed his earthly life on Monday, October 16, 2023 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood, South Carolina at the age of 76.

He was a member of Old Field Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Greenwood, South Carolina and was employed by Harris Plant Textile Industry in Greenwood where he worked in the maintenance department for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Reynold, James and William Rapley; three sisters, Lois, Julia and Georgia Mae Rapley.

Leaving to cherish his most precious and fond memories are his loving wife, Mary Lomax Rapley; three children, Bridgette Rapley, Melody (Thomas) Whetsel and Herbert Rapley, Jr. all of Greenwood, South Carolina; five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, one sister, Minnie (Robert) Holloway of Maryland; one brother, Charles Rapley of Greenwood, South Carolina, two sisters-in-law, Mattie (Willie) Christopher of Greenwood, South Carolina and Sara Cato of Florence, South Carolina along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 1-6 P.M, at the funeral home.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Old Field Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Reverend Annette Edwards, Pastor and Officiating. Assisting will be Reverend Randy Jackson, Sr., and Minister Vera Grant. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 P.M.

Pallbearers will be nephews. Flower Bearers will be nieces.

The family is at the of 117 Due West Road in Hodges, South Carolina.
