Henry Tillman Bowie, Jr., 75, of 201 Marshall Avenue, husband of Carolyn Morton Bowie known to his family as "Sonny" and his military friends as "Boo-Boo" departed his earthly life on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at the Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.

Born on August 21, 1948 in Greenwood, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Henry Tillman Bowie, Sr., and the late Mamie Hackett Bowie.

Henry joined Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church at an early age where he served as a Trustee and a member of the Senior and Men's Choirs.

He retired from Capsugel after thirteen years and the Military with thirty-three years of service.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of fifty-three years, Carolyn M. Bowie of the home; two sons, Christopher Bowie of Greenwood, South Carolina and Bryan Bowie of the home; two daughters, Darcey Bowie of Greenwood, South Carolina and Alisha Jones of Edgefield, South Carolina; two brothers, Donald (Jessie Mae) Bowie of McCormick, South Carolina and John Gary Bowie of Promised Land; three grandchildren raised in the home, Dashawn Bowie, X'zavier Bowie and Avondre Moton of Promised Land; three aunts, Jessie Mae Hackett, Lillie Conner of Promised Land and Gugusta Booker of Atlanta, Georgia; four sisters-inlaw, Jessie Bowie of McCormick, South Carolina; Gloria Robinson, Linda McBride and  Mona Bennett of Promised Land; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends to mourn his passing.

Public viewing will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 3-6 P.M. at Parks Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church in the Promised Land Community.

Pallbearers will be Willie James Harris, Jr., Adrian Bennett, Aaron Bennett, Patrick Norman, Kendrick Scott and Jurunaca Turner. Flower Bearers will be nieces.

The family is at the home.
