Georgia Mae Pompey Louden, 95, of Ninety Six, South Carolina, died Friday, February 25, 2022 at her home.  Georgia was born on June 29, 1926 in Greenwood, SC.  She was the daughter of the late Ada Bell Brooks and Louis Pompey.  She was the widow of Rufus Odell Louden, Sr.

Georgia was a faithful member of Marshall Chapel Baptist Church, where she served actively until her health failed.  Over the years, she served on various boards and auxiliaries, which included Sunday School, the choir, Missionary Board, and Usher Board.  Georgia loved the Lord and her family.

Georgia attended Greenwood County public schools.  She worked for over forty years for Emerald City Cleaners, primarily as a presser.  She then worked as a presser for Ninety Six Cleaners.  Georgia was so skilled at her work that her hand pressing could not be distinguished from that of the cleaner's press.

Georgia enjoyed reading, traveling, shopping, and shelling peas.  She always had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit.

In addition to her husband, Georgia was preceded in death by her son, Rufus Odell Louden, Jr., her daughter, Patricia Louden Etiko, and six siblings: Leroy Brooks, Johnnie Mae Louden, Charlie Brooks, John Brooks, Jr., Bobby Joe Brooks, and Cleveland Brooks.

Georgia leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Linda (Kenny) Brown, of Columbia, SC, Ernest (Teresa) Louden, of Lugoff-Elgin, SC, and Doris Louden of the home; three grandchildren: Stephen Brown, Brandon Louden, and Joy Brown; four great grandchildren; one brother, Rev. Roosevelt (Rev. Doris) Brooks; three sisters: Mamie Lee Duncan, Loretta Kemp, and Hazel Lee Pinkney, all of Greenwood, SC; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Marshall Chapel Baptist Church in Ninety Six, South Carolina with the Rev Eric S. Morton, Presiding and Officiating.  Assisting will be Reverend Roosevelt Brooks, Reverend Doris Brooks, Reverend James Louden, III,  and Minister Lakeisha Brinson. Burial will be in the Ninety-Six Community Cemetery in Ninety Six, South Carolina.

Pallbearers will be Nephews, Cousins and Friends. Flower Bearers will be Nieces, Cousins and Friend.

Public viewing will be held on Monday, February 28, 2022 from 1-5 P.M. at the funeral home.
