Florence Evena Gilchrist 75, of 728 Gilliam Ave. Greenwood, South Carolina departed this life on Monday, October 23, 2023 at her home.

Florence was born in Greenwood, South Carolina to the late Willie Morgan and the late Mary Mansel Morgan.

Florence was a member of Cokesbury Baptist Church.

Florence leaves to cherish her memories; two sons, Anthony (Susie) Gilchrist and Tony (Star) Brunson both of Greenwood, South Carolina; four daughters, Myra Evette Gilchrist of the home, Betty Owens, Brittany Cheyise Gilchrist and Wyneicka (John) Ellerbe; four sisters, Betty Penderman of Laurens, South Carolina, Ellen (Robert) Rappley of Greenwood, South Carolina, Joann Hammond of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania  and Loree (Ed) Mayard of New York; One brother, Alphonso (Willa) Morgan of Greenwood, South Carolina; two God daughters, Felicia & Temeka Williams; Twelve Grandchildren, Eleven Great-Grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Public viewing will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 1-6 P.M. at the funeral home.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Cokesbury Baptist Church with Archbishop Emanuel Spearman, officiating. Assisting will be Pastor Melissa Spencer, Minister Elaine Williams, Elder Whitman Page, Sr. and Elder Charles Williams. The body will be placed in the church at 1 P.M. Burial will be in Evening Star Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be nephews and Flower Bearers will be nieces.
