Mrs. Eula Mae Jackson Byrd, wife of Samuel Byrd entered into eternal rest on Saturday February 3, 2024, at her home.

She was born April16, 1945 to the late Lowell and Ruby Lomax Jackson.  She was educated in Greenwood public school system and was a 1962 graduate of Brewer High School.  She attended Piedmont Technical College and was an educator in Greenwood School District 50 schools for many years.

She was an active member of Southside Church of Christ where she coordinated several activities including assisting in coordinating VBS, organizing health programs, and the collection and delivery of food items to the Food Bank and Meals on Wheels.  She was a faithful servant for the Lord, always willing to serve.

Eula was also very active in the community, making herself available to anyone in need and every worthy cause.  She had a love and passion for helping others.  She was the heartbeat of her family.  She loved planning family dinners and cook-outs to keep the family together.  She was loving, kind, genuine, and a natural leader.  In addition, she was a member of the Carnation Garden Club where she served as secretary.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lowell and Ruby Jackson.  A brother, Roosevelt Jackson, sister-in-law Janie Ruth Byrd Freeman, brothers-in-law James Jones and Hosie Byrd Jr.

Leaving to cherish her most precious and fond memories are her loving husband of 52 years Samuel Byrd of the home; her daughter Alison Byrd of Atlanta, Ga; her son Brandon Byrd of Hodges.  Three grandchildren Iyanna Jackson, Jayden Hastings, and Braedon Hastings. Three brothers John (Barbara) Jackson of Abbeville, SC; Michael (Julia) Jackson of Greenwood, SC and Rufus Jackson of Hodges, SC.  Four sisters, Vernell (Olin) Klugh of Hodges, Dorothy Spencer, Vera Jackson Grant, and Dolores Rucker all of Greenwood, SC. Two brothers-in-law, Benjamin (Jessie) Byrd of Columbia, SC and Claude (Brenda) Byrd of Hodges, SC; Four sisters-in-law Annie L Gilchrist Byrd and Linda Jackson both of Hodges, SC; Annie Byrd Bennett and Martha (Wes) Byrd Johnson both of Raleigh-Durham NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to mourn her passing.

Public viewing will be held on Friday February 23rd, 2024, from 1-6 pm with visitation with the family from 4-6 pm in the chapel.

Homegoing service will be held at 12 pm on Saturday February 24th, 2024, at Southside Church of Christ, 212 Old Mount Moriah Road Greenwood, SC.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The family is at the home of a sister Vera Jackson Grant, 148 Roman Circle.
