Elizell Blocker, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Eliza S. Blocker, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood, S.C.  She was born in Greenwood County, S.C. on July 12, 1920.  Elizell was 98 years old.

At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Epworth, S.C.  After graduating from high school in Greenwood, she moved to Philadelphia, P.A. where she worked as a seamstress in the clothing industry for 50 years.

Elizell retired and return to Greenwood in 1993 where she joined Morris Chapel Baptist Church.  For the remainder of her life, she was a kind, sincere and loving person who was always willing to help family members in times of need.

Elizell was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, James, Jonas, Eddie, Daniel and Willie C. Blocker; five sisters, Evelyn Cain, Corrine Cunningham, Carrie Ingram, Ebell Martin and Hazella Tyson.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories, a sister, Georgiana B. Fortune of Greenwood; a special nephew, Jerry L. Fortune of Greenwood who cared for her as her health failed and a host of other nephews and nieces.

Funeral service and entombment will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2019, in Greenwood Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum with the Rev. Clyde Cannon officiating, Bishop Oliver T. McCray, Jr., and Rev. Dora Anne White, Assisting.

The family is at the home of her sister, 107 South University Street, Greenwood.
