Desmond Orlando Simpkins, 50, of 226 Simpkins Road, Greenwood, SC, also known as "Dee Dee" passed away on July 24, 2022.

He was the son of Carrie Morton Simpkins and the late Calvin David Simpkins, Sr.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; Mrs. Clara Simpkins and Mrs. Eva Goodwin Morton.

He was born in Glendale, Arizona in 1972.  He was a 1990 graduate of Greenwood High School and a Computer Technician.  He was an awesome cook and culinary.  He served as a caregiver to many that needed his assistance. He was a member of the Youth Crusades Evangelistic Center (YCEC) of the Promised Land Community and served in the United States Army for two years.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother of the home; two daughters, Natasha (Tyree) Duncan of Greenwood, South Carolina and Chiara Barbone, Ontario, Canada;  two sons, Kadeem Simpkins of Simpsonville, South Carolina and Dante' Barbone of Ontario, Canada; one sister, Michell (Rufus) Castle of York, South Carolina; three brothers, Marcus Simpkins of Greer, South Carolina;, David (Tresa) Simpkins of Covington, Georgia  and Willie (Tiffany) Austin of Texas; four grandchildren, Tyree Duncan, Jr., Karter Calvin Simpkins, A'Layiah Duncan and Ty'zay Simpkins; six aunts, Rose (Bobby) Chiles, Geraldine (Moses) Miller, Shirley Johnson, James Alice (Anthony Leon) Gaskins, Katherine Simpkins, Susie Simpkins Brown; four uncles; Milledge (Barbara) Morton, Wilbert (Stephanie) Morton, Charles (Mary) Morton and William (Odessa) Parks; one great-aunt, Mary Evans, one great-uncle, Larry Christopher and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Public viewing will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 1-6 P.M at the funeral home.

Graveside services for Desmond Orlando Simpkins will be 11:00 AM Friday, July 29, 2022 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Hwy 221, with the Reverend James Alice Gaskin Officiating and Reverend Anthony Lee Gaskin presiding. Assisting will be Reverend Bennie Crawford, Jr.,  Reverend Moses Miller, Jr., and Reverend Ken Frazier.

Pallbearers and Flower Bearers will be cousins.

The family is at the home of his mother, Carrie Morton Simpkins, 226 Simpkins Road in the Promised Land Community.
