Darnell "Pig" Smith, 45, of 203 Winter Ridge Court, husband of La'Shondra M. Smith entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Self Regional Healthcare.

Born in Greenwood County, he was the son of Janice Gilliam and Darnell Smith (Cathy Rutledge) and  stepfather Charlie Gilliam.

Darnell attended Greenwood County public schools and was a graduate of 1995. Raised in a family with strong church roots, Darnell accepted Christ at an early age. He valued relationships, and he never missed an opportunity to show how much he valued and cherished his family and friends. To know him was to know his ready smile and his outrageously playful sense of humor. This is the Darnell we will remember and will miss.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Marie Smith Dowtin, James Archie, Willie and Ola M. Murray, and a devoted friend, Brenda Jean "Lou" Butler Williams.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 21 years of marriage of the home; two daughters, Jamia Holloway (Clarence) and Jamoni Smith (JB Simmons); four sons, Jamere Roundtree (Shakera), Jamaal Roundtree (Contessa), Tyan Smith and Jaserie Smith, two honorary daughters, Ahsya Myers and Aleecya Childs, two honorary sons, Uriah Edwards and Stephen Childs; four grandchildren Jaking Hawes, Jicere Holloway, Ariah Roundtree and Ja'cari Holloway, two honorary grandchildren Amiyah and Ahmani Norman. One grandmother, Mary Sibert; four sisters, Dezraiel Smith, Lateshia Cartledge (Lamont), Kenya Laymon (Bernard) and Beonka Edwards; a brother raised together, James Moore all of Greenwood SC. In-laws Deborah (Lonnie) Harris, Alvin (Ella) Roundtree, Yasheka Roundtree, Michael Cohen (Tequila), DeWitt (Rena) Anderson and Krystal Anderson along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends to mourn his passing.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 from noon til 6 P.M. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Morris Chapel Baptist Church with Pastor Lonnie Jones officiating.  Assisting will be Reverend Annette Edwards and Apostle Darlene Saxon. Burial will be in the Evening Star Cemetery.

Pallbearers will Kevin Morton, Reggie Morton, Ryan Moore, Jermaine Rodgers, Lance McDuffie, Cassius Woolridge, Taye Martin and Wayne Green.

Flower Bearers will be Toi Holloway, Shannon Hackett, Tonya Coats, Tonya Butler, Renata Watson, Deshonda Spearman, Kim Barr, Angela Johnson, Roshanda Anderson and Stephanie Davis.

Masks are required.
