Deacon Collins Terry, 89,  of 119 Mosley Road entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 25, 2021 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born on August 22, 1931 in Greenwood County, he was the son of the late John Henry Terry, Sr.  and Sarah Collins Terry.

He was the fourth born of ten children and is proceeded in death by his first wife, Catherine Cannon Terry,  one son, Larry Terry,  three sisters, Lillian Henry Lagroon, Dessie Terry Marshall and Bennie Melvin T. Hentz and one brother, John Henry Terry, Jr.

He's a retired veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Mt. Pisgah Lodge #419.  He served as Chairman of the Deacon Board for 40 plus years at Second Damascus Baptist Church. Deacon Terry loved the church and was known for praying a 15 minute prayer during devotional service.  He was a faithful worker of Greenwood Metropolitan Commission for over 30 years.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his second wife, Eloise Lagroon Terry, a daughter, Earnestine Terry, one stepson, Rev. James E. (Lorene) McKee, Sr.;  four sisters, Ida Robinson of Maryland; Margaret Terry Cannon of Greenwood; Lillie Bell Andrew and Sarah Terry Gaskin both of Promised Land; one brother, Benjamin Terry of Promised Land; two grandchildren, Collins (Khadija) Terry and  Demetra (John) Thomas, three great grandchildren, Nehemiah Thomas, Nema Thomas and Kameron Jackson. A host of special grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a devoted sister-in-law, Zarelda Smith Terry, a devoted niece/caregiver, Annie Lee Nicholson and a devoted nephew/caregiver, James Starks along with many other relatives and friends.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Second Damascus Baptist Church with the Reverend Leroy Robertson, Pastor and assisted by Reverend James Gilchrist.

Public Viewing will be held from 1-6 P.M. on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the funeral home.
