Mr. Charlie Settles, Jr., of 1310 Henderson Avenue, Greenwood, SC, completed his earthly assignment on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

He was the son of the late Charlie and Emily Settles, born on June 20, 1934. He received his education in the Greenwood County public schools. At an early age, Charlie accepted Christ as his Lord and personal Savior and continued to grow in Christ by uniting with Tabernacle Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, his brother, Oscar Settles and his sister, Emma Lee Williams,

He met the love of his life, Shirley Smith, and they were united in marriage in 1956. To this union two children were born: Ms. Kathi Settles (of the home) and Mrs. Alfreda (Rev. James) Duncan of Greenwood, SC; two God-daughters: Rev. Dr. Kimberly Martin of Greenwood, SC and Greta (Rick) Love of Liberty Township, OH: three grandchildren: Ms. Desariee Duncan, Ms. DiAndra Duncan, and Ms. Rhenatta Sherriffe Lake; three great-grandchildren: Zaiden Springs, Khalil Lake, and Dr. Jabbarrius Ervin, MD of Washington, DC.

He also leaves to cherish his memories two sisters, Carol (Eugene) Hayes of Morristown, NJ and Bertha Taylor of Newark, NJ and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends to celebrate a life well lived.

Public viewing will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 from 1-6 P.M. at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Springfield Baptist Church 2361 US – 221 (Lauren Highway) in Greenwood, South Carolina with the Reverend James A. Duncan Officiating and Reverend Dr. Kimberly Martin Presiding.  Assisting will be Reverend Vivian Wright, Reverend Dr. Clifford Wright, Elder Rick Love, Dr. Javvarrius Ervin and Minister JiTwan Floyd. The body will be placed in the church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Evening Star Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Aviss Dendy, Regis Lester, Kenji Simpson and Renault Springs. Flower Bearers will be Krystle Dendy, Tomeka Floyd, Jasmine Jackson, Anita Louden, Monique Miller, Roslyn Morton and Tiara Pope.
