Cedric Elijah Wideman, 65, of 1900 Devonwood Drive, Columbia, South Carolina entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Prisma Health Heart Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.

Born in McCormick County, South Carolina on July 23, 1959, he was the son of the late Horace Carlton Wideman, Sr., and Dorothy Ann Settles Wideman.

At an early age he joined Shiloh African Methodist Episcopal Church in McCormick, South Carolina. Upon moving to Columbia, South Carolina he joined Christ Church of Columbia.

He was a graduate of McCormick High School Class of 1977 and a 1982 graduate of South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, South Carolina where he received a B. S. Degree in General Business Administration. He was a member of the Phi Beta Lambda Business Fraternity and was a member of the Sons of Aid Society No. 30.

Cedric served his country in the branch of the United States Army as 1st Lt. Army Artillery Officer and received an honorable discharge after eight years of service. He also was employed with the Department of Corrections for several years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Joe Nathan Wideman and two sisters, Maxine W. Jennings and Beverly W. Leverett.

Leaving to cherish his most fond and precious memories are; his daughter, Kristy (Timothy) German of Stockbridge, Georgia; two grandchildren, Leilani German and Isabella German both of Stockbridge, Georgia; his former wife, Dr. Jacquie Williams of McDonough, Georgia; one sister, Melanie W. Rucker of Greenwood, South Carolina; four brothers, Horace C. (Gabi) Wideman, Jr. of Rhiene, Germany; Emory J. Wideman and Elder David R. (Carrie) Wideman both of Killeen, Texas and Erwin A. Wideman of Greenwood, South Carolina; one aunt, Maude W. Singletary of Detroit, Michigan; one uncle, Elder Robert Timothy Settles of Snellville, Georgia; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will truly miss him.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Shiloh African Methodist Episcopal Church with Pastor Paul Nelson Wharton, Presiding and Bishop Samuel Patrick Officiating. Assisting will be Reverend Dr. Larry D. Murphy.

The family is at the home of his sister, Melanie W. Rucker, 320 Chinquapin Road in Greenwood, South Carolina.
