Calvin White, Sr., 88, of 231 Lindsey Avenue, Greenwood, South Carolina, husband of Mary E. Hackett White, transitioned to his heavenly home on September 30, 2022 at the home of his daughter.

Calvin was born October 5, 1933, in Greenwood County to the late Frank White, Sr. and Lucile Covington White.  He was a former fixer at Greenwood Mills' Mathews Plant and a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Greenwood, South Carolina.

In addition to his wife, Calvin leaves to cherish his most precious memories three sons: Calvin Jr. (Beverly), Leonard Sr. (Joyce), and Vincent White, Sr.; one daughter Dorothy A. Smith, all of Greenwood, South Carolina; two sisters:  Betty Williams of Greenwood, South Carolina and Mary Newson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania ; two brothers:  Walter Lee White of Greenwood, South Carolina and Thomas White (Alma) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; eight sisters-in law:  Jeanette White, Marie Pope, Lucile Blair (James), Mildred Johnson (Raymond Sr.), Charlene Anderson, and Effie White, all of Greenwood, South Carolina;  Frances Taylor of Baltimore, Maryland and Helen Long (Paul Sr.) of Rock Hill, South Carolina; one brother-in-law:  Frank Hackett (Jackie) of Raleigh, North Carolina; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, one aunt, Ophelia Covington Moore of Edgefield, South Carolina, special friends of the family, Weneka (Nikki) Cunningham and Reggie Smith, of Greenwood, South Carolina and a host of other family members and friends.

Public viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 1-6 P.M. at the funeral home.

Services will be held at noon on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at the Multicultural Center 415 Riley Road North in Hodges, South Carolina with Reverend Raymond P. Adams, Officiating and Reverend Joseph Caldwell presiding. Assisting will be Reverend Paul Long, Sr., Reverend Alvin Green, Reverend Michael Butler and Minister Angela Jackson. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Vincente L. White, Vincent L. White, Jr., Odell White, Anthony White, Johnathan Jackson and Marcus Williams.

Flower Bearers will be granddaughters and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mount Moriah Baptist Church Scholarship Fund or the Multicultural Center.

The family is at their respective homes.
