On Saturday, December 13, 2025, Betty Sue Laster was called home to our Lord and savior to fly among the angels after a long battle with cancer.

Betty Sue Laster was born in Abbeville, South Carolina on January 27, 1964 to Asberry Grant and Mae Francies Laster.

Sue attended Greenwood County public schools in her younger years graduating from Greenwood High School in 1982. She continued her education by attending Piedmont Technician College in 1987, gaining an associate degree in Criminal Justice. After acquiring her degree Betty Sue worked various jobs but ultimately fell in love with truck driving. For over twenty -five years Betty Sue drove tractor trailer across the country.

Betty Sue devoted her time and energy to her family, especially her son and grandchildren. Her charm and infectious smile would light up any room she walked into. She had a strong will and mindset. Whatever she put her mind to doing it was considered done.

She is preceded in death by her sister Linda Louise Bookman and brother Tommy Henry Laster.

She is survived by her son, Whitney Dennard (Yushika) Laster of Augusta, Georgia; one sister, Martha Jean Gaines of Waterloo, South Carolina; two brothers, William Asberry (Juanita) Grant of Conyers, Georgia and Kenneth Tyrone (Jessicah) Grant of Greenwood, South Carolina; one half-brother, Ricky Robinson of Queens, New York; two grandchildren, Sydney Shandi-Dennaria Laster and Kylee Nina Shamiri Laster of Augusta, Georgia; one brother-in-law, Tyrone Bookman of Greenwood, South Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of Life for Betty Sue Laster will be held at 1 P.M on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 in the chapel of Parks Funeral Home.

Public viewing will be held on Tuesday December 23, 2025 from 12 - 12:45 P.M. at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 1- 5 P.M. at the home  418 Fairview Road in Laurens, South Carolina.
