Barbara Bowie Quarles,  67, of 116 Old Sample Street Greenwood, SC transitioned peacefully to her heavenly home on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Greenwood County on May 2, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Julius Herman (Bud) Bowie and Doretha Kinard Bowie who were absolutely thrilled at the birth of their first child.  Barbara is also preceded in death by her two brothers, Glenn and Francis Bowie.

Barbara affectionately known as "Bob" was a beautiful phenomenal woman, who was loving, kind-hearted and a faithful follower of our Lord Jesus Christ.  She didn't mind helping others in need. Barbara enjoyed her life with William who she loved dearly, as well as her four siblings, family members and friends.   She enjoyed traveling and was always ready to "Hit the Road" whether it be traveling to visit with family, traveling to NYC to watch plays on Broadway, taking cruises to Jamaica, Mexico and the Caribbean Islands.  She thoroughly enjoyed every vacation.  Barbara also really enjoyed shopping, especially on "Black Friday".  She loved to laugh, dance, watch Life Time movies, Westerns and Girls Night Out on The Town with her NHC co-workers, hosting cookouts and holiday gatherings for family and friends

At an early age, she attended Little Zion A.M.E. Church and later joined St. Goodwill Baptist Church where she was a faithful member who enjoyed being the Assistant Kitchen Manager, serving on the Youth Committee and being a member of the Women's Club.  She was a 1972 graduate of Greenwood High School, attended Piedmont Technical College and retired from NHC Health Care.  She participated with Clothing Drives, Crime Stoppers and Relay for Life Organizations.

Barbara will forever be remembered by her beloved life partner William Johnson who loved and cared for her dearly and unconditionally, and her brother Herman (Joyce) Bowie, sister, Pansy (Andrew) Hawkins who loved their big sister beyond what words could ever adequately express.  She will be fondly remembered by her sister-in-law Mary Bowie, three nieces, Ashley Bowie, Kaitlyn Bowie and Myla Hawkins; three nephews,

Chris Bowie, Julius "Jay" Bowie and Miles Hawkins; three great nieces and nephew Zola and Pili Neely and Braxton Bowie, and cousin-niece Tasha Kinard, all who she absolutely adored; cousin-sisters at heart Diane Drennon and Miranda Boozer;  five aunts, Thelma Boozer and Emily Davis of Greenwood, SC, Delores Kinard of Waterloo, SC, Edna Kinard of McCormick, SC and Margaret Speech of Charlotte, NC.  And many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Graveside service will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Saint Goodwill Baptist Church, 561 SC Highway 28 North Troy, South Carolina 29848 with Pastor Jarvis Cade officiating.

Public viewing will be held from 2-6 P.M. on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Parks Funeral Home.
