Annie Ruth Duncan Lomax, 85 departed this life peacefully after a short illness on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at NHC Healthcare in Greenwood. Annie was born in Ninety Six, SC, the daughter of the late Roosevelt Mathis and the late Pearl Duncan Fraizer.

Her early life in Greenwood, she was employed with the Nantex and the Greenwood Laundry. She moved to Brooklyn, New York, in 1955 and remained there until 2015. She has been a life long member of Marshall Chapel Baptist Church that she loved and she enjoyed riding the bus going to the senior center.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, George Allan Lomax, Jr. and Larry Lomax both of Greenwood, SC; one daughter, The Honorable Julia Anne Parks of Greenwood; one sister, Floree Talbert of Flint, Michigan; two granddaughters; one grandson; three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Marshall Chapell Baptist Church, with Rev. Eric Morton officiating; Rev. Andrew Harris presiding; assisted by Rev. Furman Miller, Revs. Roosevelt and Doris Brooks and Bishop Oliver T. McCray. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family is at the home of her son Larry Lomax, 1221 W. Alexander Ave.
