Mrs. Alice  Cornelia Sprowl "Teaser"  Burton, 101,  of 201 Belle Oaks Drive, wife of the late Harris Burton passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at her home.

She was born on June 6, 1920 in Atlanta, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Frank Sprowl, Sr. and Willie Lee Carter-Sprowl.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers;  James Sprowl, Frank Sprowl, William Sprowl, and Herbert Sprowl;  one sister, Lillie Mae Elam and two sons-in-law; Vander Witherspoon and Joseph Canty.

She leaves to cherish her memories; two loving sisters, Margaret Bates and Mary Esther Ellerbe both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Helen Witherspoon and Mary Canty both of Greenwood, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Lavander Witherspoon, Briant Witherspoon, Travis Canty and Carlos Canty all of Greenwood, South Carolina; three special granddaughters, Tammy Hughey-Bonds of Greenwood, South Carolina, Jane Cough of Georgia and Thanisha Wright of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; 10 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her homegoing.

A celebration of Life for Mrs. Alice Cornelia Sprowl Burton will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Old Field Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church with Reverend Annette Edwards, Pastor and Officiating and assisted by Reverend Michelle Cummings. The body will be placed in the church at 1: 00 P.M. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 1 to 6 P.M. at the funeral home.
