Alfred Rucker, Sr., of 146 Russell Street, widower of Bessie Mae Rucker, died May 7, 2017. Born in Greenwood County, he was the son of the late Roy and Ollie Warren Rucker. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, where he was a deacon emeritus since 1998. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club, Masonic Lodge and Sons of Aid No 55. Mr. Rucker retired from Matthews Mills after forty years of service.

He is preceded in death by one sister, Olivia Phillips and two brothers, C.B. and Rogers Rucker.

He leaves to cherish his memories are four children, Alfred (Debra) Rucker of Killeen, Texas, Allen (Daisy) Rucker of Greenwood, Lorene (Bryant) Sanders of Rock Hill, SC, and James Christopher (Evelyn) Rucker of Lexington, SC; one sister, Vivian Kinard of Greenwood; 16 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; also to cherish his memories are Angie, Karen, and Stephanie Gantt, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, with Rev. Alfred Rucker, Jr., officiating and Pastor Raymond Adams presiding. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Trustees. Flower bearers will be Trustees' wives. Honorary Escorts will be the Masonic Lodge.
